In celebration of National Trails Day, join the Carolina Thread Trail Director, Bret Baronak, on a 7.5-mile guided mountain bike ride around Lake Whelchel. This trail is part of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail which traces the route used by patriot militia during the Kings Mountain campaign of 1780. Today, the public is invited to hike and bike the scenic route both through the woods and around the lake.
Participants should bring their own mountain bike and be experienced riders who are able to tackle several steep climbs on a natural surface trail. We do not recommend this trail to anyone with a road or gravel bike.
