At Catawba Lands Conservancy, we are dedicated to our mission to saving land and connecting lives to nature.
One type of land that was once prevalent across North Carolina, but have nearly disappeared in the Piedmont due to development and suppression of fire, are grasslands. Through the Catawba Grasslands Project, the Conservancy is restoring and managing 145 acres of grasslands across 10 protected properties.
Restoring these native landscapes reduces the use of chemicals. It also provides habitat for many of the native plants, animals, and insects that thrived in these habitats but are now threatened.
This includes 500 native species of bees, integral to food production on local farms.
Your generous gift will help us continue this important work.
